Parks Canada Discounts – How to Claim Yours
From June 20 to September 2, you’ll get:
✔️ Free entry to Parks Canada places (no Discovery Pass needed)
✔️ 25% off on all Parks Canada-managed camping and roofed accommodations
Here’s how it works:
Already bought a Discovery Pass? If your pass is valid through June, July, or August 2025, it will automatically be extended by 3 months and no action is required. My pass I purchased last year, was set to expire on June 30, 2025 - it is now extended until September 30, 2025.
Don't have a Pass? You do not have to pay to enter the parks, but you are STILL required to stop at the kiosk upon park entry.
Already purchased a campsite for June 20 - September 2? You’ll receive an email closer to your reservation date with instructions on how to apply the 25% discount, so keep an eye on your inbox. The emailed instructions are quite lengthy. Here’s what you have to do: Go into your existing reservation, click "Change Reservation", don't make any changes and then click "Update", and "Confirm Changes", then proceed to the check out.
I'm not going to lie, as someone who is holding very cherished campsites, that would be scooped up in seconds should something go wrong, I'm terrified to touch my reservations and I'm considering letting Parks Canada keep my money.
My opinion here might be controversial: I question if the decision to grant free entry and discounted camping was a wise choice for Parks Canada. I know this discount provides an opportunity for those who normally cannot afford to visit the parks, however our national parks NEED the funding. I also suspect high volume parks, like Banff, are not going to be able to handle the additional visitors.
What do you think? I'd love to hear from you if you've gone through the online process and received your refund!
What’s NOT totally clear?
Backcountry permits (NOT campsites). Some people say they got the 25% discount applied to their West Coast Trail permit … others (like me with a Gros Morne backcountry permit) were told it’s not included. So even Parks Canada itself is providing conflicting information.
I break down the information I have received SO FAR in this quick video I posted HERE.
If YOU received the backcountry PERMIT discount, hit reply and tell me how - let’s help each other out. ▶️ Full Parks Canada info here
