Fundy Footpath: We made it just before it closed!
Wow, that was an unforgettable 5-day backpacking adventure along the Fundy Footpath, and let me tell you, we saw everything.
We went from tank tops and porpoise sightings from the beach on Friday, to foggy rainforest vibes on Saturday, to rain and high-stakes tidal crossings on Sunday (hello, slippery roots!), to a peaceful Monday lunch under a short burst of sunshine - just enough to dry out our soaked gear. And then, just when we thought we had seen it all, the Bay of Fundy hit us with full-force winds and bone-chilling cold.
🎥 Want to know how we handled it?
Stay tuned because YouTube + social media videos are coming soon! From near-perfect beach dinners to fog-soaked forest climbs and an epic search for the elusive food cables (yes, they DO exist!), we captured it all.
Oh, and did I mention? A section of the trail officially closed WHILE we were still hiking it!
🚫 Trail Alert: Fundy Footpath Section Closure
As of now, the section from Big Salmon to Long Beach is CLOSED due to the suspension bridge closure and erosion and blowdowns that made the route relatively unsafe.
If you want to hike the Footpath, the parking lot to start or end the hike is now at P13 in the provincial park, across from the Long Beach Interpretive Centre. It's important to note that we also heard some chatter on the trail about many of the gates being closed in the evenings, so double check with staff before you hit the trail.
